HIPPO ACADEMYis a series of specifically designed progressive courses that build on each other. Students start with our BASIC DRAWING course, progress to MASTERINGTONE and then onto OIL PAINTING. In a short amount of time students will gain the ability to draw and paint anything.

Open to all ages 10 and up. Students progress at their own speed. Start anytime.
A step by step course based on seeing basic shapes, understanding line and shadow. Learning to draw with straight lines, measure by relationship and create flow. Once completed students will have a solid ability to render and capture the likeness of anything. Media used is pencil and charcoal.

Mastering tone is essential in creating a 3- demential drawing of an object. Moving from dark to light you will learn to render and compare the darkest darks with mid and light tones to create beautiful likenesses.
ACADEMY COURSE 3 - INTRO TO OIL PAINTING
Developing on the fundamental learned in the previous courses you will learn how to paint using a limited pallet. In a short amount of time you will create beautiful works!
INSTRUCTOR - CATHERING BOBKOSKI
Catherine Bobkoski is a still life and figurative artist whose work celebrates the quiet beauty of ordinary things. Her delicate paintings of flowers are exhibited nationally, including at the Oil Painters of America 2019 Western Regional Show. She is represented by Sanders Galleries in Tucson, Arizona.
Catherine also enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of painting with others. She is a sought after painting instructor and teaches at many art schools throughout Southern California, including Art Mentors, Creative Arts Group, Situ Academy and The Watts Atelier, where she began as a student many years ago. Catherine is committed to bringing a passion for art to the next generation. She is an elite drawing and painting instructor at the award-winning Carlsbad Art Farm where she teaches children and shares their inspiration in a natural setting.
Catherine began studying drawing and painting at The Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California and later at Grand Central Academy and New York University in New York City. She has also studied with many inspiring artists along the way, including Daniel Keys, Dustin Van Wechel, Vadim Zang and Ignat Ignatov.
